Goals related to <em>carbon neutrality<\/em> to offset and reduce emissions also bring numerous benefits from an economic perspective, just think of energy savings.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5970 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reduce-co2-or-carbon-dioxide-emissions-to-limit-gl-2023-06-14-23-06-43-utc-1024x648.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reduce-co2-or-carbon-dioxide-emissions-to-limit-gl-2023-06-14-23-06-43-utc-1024x648.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reduce-co2-or-carbon-dioxide-emissions-to-limit-gl-2023-06-14-23-06-43-utc-300x190.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reduce-co2-or-carbon-dioxide-emissions-to-limit-gl-2023-06-14-23-06-43-utc-768x486.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reduce-co2-or-carbon-dioxide-emissions-to-limit-gl-2023-06-14-23-06-43-utc-1536x972.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/reduce-co2-or-carbon-dioxide-emissions-to-limit-gl-2023-06-14-23-06-43-utc-2048x1295.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Carbon footprint and building decarbonization<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Specifically, how do the principles of decarbonization apply to the construction sector?<\/p>\n<p>Among the 2030 targets is an indication of achieving<strong> 27 percent of energy consumption from renewable sources<\/strong> and a <strong>30 percent reduction in emissions from some sectors<\/strong>, including construction.<\/p>\n<p>Decarbonization to reduce CO2 emissions results in the<strong>use of carbon-free sources<\/strong>, such as renewable energy. However, it is not enough to take action on direct emissions; we also need to consider and make <strong>wise choices<\/strong> to <strong>reduce indirect emissions as well<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Challenges in the country are mainly on the <strong>existing built<\/strong> environment, which in most cases consists of <strong>buildings with many years of life behind<\/strong> them and <strong>low energy efficiency<\/strong>. Therefore, investments and policies that facilitate actions geared toward improving this are needed.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, construction related to the building of new structures will have to be increasingly <strong>focused on green and highly efficient buildings<\/strong>. This results in facilities that <strong>use clean energy<\/strong> both in construction and in actual use, on which the <strong>right<\/strong> life-cycle <strong>assessments<\/strong> have been made and consideration given to integrating them on an increasingly emission-conscious and demanding urban structure. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate not only the <strong>design related to the individual building<\/strong>, but also <strong>the urban system<\/strong> in which it is to be inserted and in which it will fulfill its life cycle.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Id 11 is active in agribusiness building to reduce emissions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The overall goal of the project is to <strong>reduce the CO2 emissions embedded in the building<\/strong>, so all actions are directed toward<strong> energy conservation<\/strong> and <strong>paying special attention to the materials and products used<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There was an explicit focus on the use of <strong>recycled<\/strong> materials or otherwise materials designed with the goal of lowering the carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5973\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5973\" style=\"width: 2560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5972 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-1-NEWS-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5973\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The building designed by Id 11<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>100% of the above-ground vertical load-bearing structure<\/strong> and <strong>load-bearing perimeter closure walls<\/strong> are made in the factory, reducing the <strong>number of on-site deliveries by 60%<\/strong> and creating <strong>less waste<\/strong>. This also made it possible to limit the number and <strong>stay of people on site<\/strong> as much as possible as an effective solution in terms of sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5979\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5979\" style=\"width: 1326px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5978 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1326\" height=\"995\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-3.jpg 1326w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-3-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/FOTO-3-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1326px) 100vw, 1326px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5979\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The structure<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To <strong>limit the load on the foundation<\/strong>, and thus decrease the size of the load-bearing structures, the roof of the building was made of<strong> structural wood<\/strong>: a renewable material from <strong>certified forests<\/strong>, where felling is compensated for through <strong>new plantings<\/strong>. <strong> Mineral and biological insulators<\/strong> such as rock wool, wood, and glass were used, avoiding petroleum-based products.<\/p>\n<p>In general, <strong>low-emissive products and materials<\/strong> were used to ensure the<strong> quality of the indoor environment<\/strong>, such as paints and coatings with very low emission values of harmful chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>Double chamber glazing was installed, all thermal bridges calculated and verified, air tightness designed, and results verified by special in-process testing. Windows were positioned to optimize <strong>maximum capture of solar radiation<\/strong> during the winter period, while a system of <strong>natural roof overhangs<\/strong> allows <strong>shading<\/strong> during the summer period.<\/p>\n<h3>The materials used and their carbon footprint<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Sixty<\/strong> <strong>percent<\/strong> of the fill materials come from <strong>recycling<\/strong>, and <strong>60 percent<\/strong> of the materials used are <strong>regionally sourced<\/strong>, mined and processed within a limited distance of the construction site so as to use local resources and reduce environmental impacts from transportation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5977\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5977\" style=\"width: 745px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5976 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Esempio-materiali.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"745\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Esempio-materiali.jpg 745w, https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Esempio-materiali-300x170.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5977\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Carbon footprint of building materials<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From the perspective of materials used, at least<strong>80 percent of them can be recycled<\/strong> through careful organization of processing, collection and storage of waste materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong> Stormwater<\/strong> falling within the property shall be conveyed by ensuring slow release into the drainage system to <strong>reduce the possibility of local flooding<\/strong> and ensure <strong>recharge of the water table<\/strong> as defined in the <em>&#8220;Technical Implementation Standards Water Protection Plan.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The innovative construction solutions used ensure a high-performance envelope in terms of energy consumption, guaranteeing workspaces with high flexibility being characterized by a strong dynamism due to the frequent need for changes in the interior layout.  <\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in exploring approaches and solutions to reduce your carbon footprint, <strong><br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.id-11.it\/en\/\">here<\/a><br \/>\n<\/strong> you can find information about our projects, practical tools, and useful resources for embarking on a path toward a more positive environmental impact.
